PayloadCMS

The big news here is 3.39.1 and 3.40.0 have been released. 3.39.1 introduced Payload Folders, which allow you to organize your Admin UI and query the folders as a collection on the frontend. Very useful.

It moved from admin.folders: true in 3.39.1 to just folders: true in 3.40.0, so watch out for that!

A new TextStateFeature was also introduced in 3.39.1, which allows you to add custom colors and backgrounds to your Lexical RichText. I haven’t gotten it working in client components, yet, but stay tuned for a video walkthrough of this soon.

The Payload CMS form builder plugin is extremely powerful and deserves its own special callout. If you’re struggling to build out your form builder plugin, you’re not alone. That’s why I created this video: to help you completely configure forms to start accepting form submissions into your CRM. You’ll set up the backend, the frontend, and configure your integrations, and then you’re good to go! Watch now:

Next.js

A lot of work is still being done on the canary branch of 15.4. It seems like there’s a new commit every day as the Next.js team works fast to launch the next minor release.

In the midst of all that canary noise, 15.3.3 was released. The change from 15.3.2 to 15.3.3 is admittedly lacking, so there’s not much to write about here.

Vercel, on the other hand, has several large improvements ship these past two weeks.

TailwindCSS

Tailwind v4.1.8 was released. This change isn’t as big as the few releases before it, but we can expect better error messages for when @apply fails to…well, apply.

Several bug fixes were shipped as well, including fixing an error that appeared when searching for tailwindcss or updating dependencies in a monorepo and deprecating order-none in favor of order-0.
