PayloadCMS

This big news from the past two weeks is that Payload CMS has been acquired by Figma. I have many thoughts about this that I will capture on camera soon, but my overall sentiment is that this is a good move. I’m not too concerned about the OSS nature of Payload CMS, and the influx of cash and psychological safety for the team (and for us who want Payload CMS to stick around for a long time) cannot be understated.

Payload CMS v3.43 was released (and 3.44 should be released today, 27 Jun). Some new features were added, like the data object being available in the afterChange hook. Several bug fixes were introduced, as well as some fixes and features for the Postgres adapter.

It’s no secret that it’s been hard to implement the new TextStateFeature from Payload CMS. So, with the help of the community, I created this video with one implementation that works great. Check it out!

Next.js

Next.js v15.3.4 was released, which includes a few bug fixes, but nothing major. Metadata is now streamed and rendered at the top level and the config module is now cloned to avoid mutation.

There was also a new release for v14.2.3, if you’re using an older version of Next. All this is doing is adding a bug fix from a new version to version 14.

On Vercel’s side:

  1. AI Gateway is now in beta. This allows you to have a single endpoint for all your AI models. Key here is that this is still in beta; expect breaking changes.

  2. There’s now a higher limit for functions running with Liquid Compute. This is enabled by lower pricing since functions are now only charged for active CPU time.

  3. A new CAPTCHA layer is available. This is designed to protect LLM routes and other sensitive routes.

  4. You can now manage Vercel Blob through your CLI.

TailwindCSS

Tailwind v4.1.11 was released and only contained bug fixes and support for Vite7. Not much to speak of for this release.

In other news

Cloudflare

  • Cloudflare released new containers. From what I can tell, the prices are higher than industry averages, but it’s still an exciting development.

  • You can now connect your React app to an MCP using Cloudflare simply.
